Advocacy Services ROCK: Find New Providers and More

May 01, 2019

Who has extra time to search for a new doctor? Whether you’ve recently moved (like me) or your insurance changed, it can be quite a task to locate new doctors that are both in-network AND accepting new patients – let alone accommodate other special preferences and needs you may have!

Today, I’m sharing the easy process of using an Advocacy service to find new physicians, dentists, optometrists and more….

1. Contact the Advocate with your needs

First, simply contact your Advocate to let them know what kind of help you need. The Advocate will walk you through the simple process asking questions about specific information like…

  • the type of provider you’re looking for (pediatrician, dentist, obstetrician, etc.)
  • how far you’re willing to drive
  • personal preferences in gender, specialization, etc.

In some cases, the Advocate will already have your medical/dental/vision insurance plan info, but sometimes you’ll provide it – this way, your Advocate can make sure the providers are in-network. Next, the Advocate will open a case to capture all of your details and requests.

2. Complete a simple authorization

To work with your insurance company, the Advocate will need you to give approval. This can be quickly and easily handled via email. After you’ve completed the authorization form and sent it back to the Advocate, they’ll begin your search.

3. Receive a list of providers in your area.

Your Advocate will set timing expectations with you when you open a case. In most cases, you’ll have a provider list within a few business days. Your list will be tailored to your specific requests and include all provider contact info.

Most Advocacy companies do an additional review of the provider’s credentials to ensure they’re licensed and in good standing. Your Advocate might also review a provider’s quality ratings and customer service to ensure they only send you the best of the best.

4. Take advantage of additional services

After reviewing your provider list and identifying your preferred provider(s) from the options, ask your Advocate to schedule a visit for you. They’ll work to get you in as quickly as possible or based on a timeframe you specify. This is especially handy for doctors who are in high demand and appointments are difficult to secure. Your Advocate can even connect with your previous physician to transfer your medical records to the new physician.

Helping you locate great providers is just one of MANY ways Advocates can help. Other ways they can improve your life include…

  • answering questions about your specific insurance or employee benefit plans
  • gathering cost comparisons before a procedure to find the best value
  • reviewing and negotiating medical bills on your behalf
  • researching prescriptions in an effort to find lower-cost options

An Advocacy service can be a great help in many ways. If you have access to this type of service, use it! Who doesn’t want an expert ready to assist when you need it?

Now it’s your turn! Have you used Advocacy services to help you and your family control healthcare? Comment below to tell me about it or send an email to trey@freshbenies.com.

I didn’t want to go to urgent care or the ER. Using Doctors Online in my freshbenies membership, I went online to ask a doctor. The doctor responded and said to check my blood pressure. He followed up with the next day to make sure my numbers were OK. By then, the feeling was starting to go away. He told me if it persists to contact my doctor. It was great that I didn’t have to go somewhere and wait forever, and it was free.” - Kelli from Texas
